Established in 1981 as a joint venture company producing magnetic tape in Huizhou, China, the company gradually expanded to become a global leader in consumer electronics and communications, as well as businesses such as financial services, Internet application services, sales and logistics services, investment and venture capital.

With over 75,000 employees, 26 research institutes and 22 manufacturing and processing bases worldwide, TCL designs, develops, manufactures and sells telephones, televisions, mobile phones, refrigerators, washing machines, air conditioners, smart health electrical appliances and LCD panel products.

Products are sold in more than 160 countries and regions under a variety of brands, including TCL, Alcatel, BlackBerry, and Thomson. TCL is the 3rd largest TV manufacturer in the world, generating almost $17 billion in annual revenue.

In 2017 TCL invested almost $700m into R&D, employed nearly 8000 talented R&D staff. Its core technologies revolve around new display technologies, artificial intelligence and industrial internet technology.

TCL Research Europe is part of the TCL Group in Poland. The goal of this organization is to promote technology innovation and utilize Polish talents to achieve technology advances.
